The ECHL’s 30th Member team, the Greensboro Gargoyles, will begin play in the 2025-26 season, with their inaugural game set for Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 at First Horizon Coliseum. The Gargoyles are owned and operated by Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, led by CEO Andy Kaufmann. The team has entered into an affiliation agreement with the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves. In the coming months, the Gargoyles will introduce their mascot along with exclusive merchandise, including jerseys. A head coach is expected to be named in late spring/early summer of 2025.
